In an earnings call Thursday morning, Warner bros CEO David Zaslav (boo, hiss) announced that Peter Jackson will be returning with his longtime writing partners to write and produce the first in what WB hopes will be a Lord of the Rings universe, similar to what Disney has done with Star Wars. The first film will be titled The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum, and Andy Serkis will return to star and direct.
The project is currently in the early stages of script development and will “explore storylines yet to be told,” the WBD chief added. “‘Lord of the Rings’ is one of the most successful and revered franchises in history and presents a significant opportunity for theatrical business”
An animated film, The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim, was slated to come out this April but was pushed back to December 13th. It stars Brian Cox and Miranda Otto who will reprise her role as Éowyn.

The commercial shows a large crushing device, squishing tangible objects used to create art, music - a piano, paints, and a guitar are shown to be crushed.
when the machine is finished, it shows the latest, thinnest iPad.
It's intended as a metaphor for all the things you can create with iPad.
but in a world of people being tired of technology, it's seen as squishing out the arts.

Bryan Fuller revealed that he was taken off a24’s Friday the 13th television series due to creative differences.
“Adapting classic horror is something I have some experience with. These shows require a vision that elevates and transforms, as well as delivers what audiences have come to expect, which is an ambitious and risky endeavor. It requires people to take the leap with me.
“When it works, as with HANNIBAL, the results can be powerful for the storytellers and the audience. I couldn’t be more proud of the work my co-showrunner Jim Danger Gray and I were able to accomplish with our brilliant writing staff despite the challenges we faced.
“For reasons beyond our control, A24 has elected to go a different way with the material,” he said. “We hope the final product will be something ‘Friday the 13th’ fans all over the world will enjoy.”

Two major streaming girlies are joining forces. Disney and Warner Bros. Discovery are teaming up for a bundle that includes Disney+, Hulu and Max.
There’s no pricing info or specific launch date at this point, but expect it drop sometime this Summer in the US.

Especially since the child storyline gets erased from existence in season 4.

Sydney Sweeney is set to portray trailblazing boxer Christy Martin in a new biopic directed by Oz filmmaker David Michôd.
The currently untitled project will chart the true story of Martin’s rise to become America’s most well known female boxer in the 1990s — the “female Rocky” in the words of the film’s producers. Martin also tackled personal demons, toxic relationships, and a brutal attempt on her life.
The actress told Deadline: “I grappled and did kickboxing from 12-19 years old. I’ve been itching to get back into the ring, train, and transform my body. Christy’s story isn’t a light one, it’s physically and emotionally demanding, there’s a lot of weight to carry. But I love challenging myself.”

It's been just one month since Amazon introduced ads to its Prime Video streaming service but they're already planning for more. They're set to introduce new intrusive advertising tactics to entice viewers to make purchases while viewing. This includes showing ads when you pause a program.
They're also going to include shoppable carousels during ad breaks showcasing products you can buy on Amazon and "interactive brand trivia ads and pause ads with translucent overlays will offer rewards and direct product purchasing options".
